Medication can be prescribed for children, but it is important to try and use as little medication as is necessary to treat symptoms, the side effects can be difficult to handle. Therapy is also important for the child in order for them to be able to safely talk about what they are feeling and reinforce the feeling that they are going to be okay. It's helpful for caregivers of children with bipolar disorder keep an accurate record of their child's moods and behaviors, this proves to be helpful to a psychiatrist while treating bipolar disorder.

It will not be easy to help a child experiencing symptoms of bipolar disorder.
