Bipolar And Self Destruction

There are many things in this world that some of us will never understand, but at one point or another everyone has self destructive actions. Thousands of people are diagnosed every year with bipolar disorder and they find out that they are their own worst enemy and that these wild mood swings can take a big toll on their life.

There has been an abundance of people who struggle with everyday relationships; even a friendship can be hard to keep. Trying to not only connect with a person but not push them away becomes a daunting task. People who are diagnosed with manic depression, also known as bipolar disorder, are faced with many issues like the worst of both manic and depression phases.

When depressed, they won't be able to sleep, have low energy levels, loss in socialization, isolation and just a loss of interest in everyday life. On the other hand, when they are in the manic stage, which usually shows up every three to six months after being depressed, and the symptoms include decreased need for sleep, they are easily distracted, inflated ego and impaired judgment that can all lead to self destructive behaviors.

Everyone deals with mood swings, but when faced with such high and low mood swings it is hard to grasp what it is to be balanced. Ultimately, our goal is to balance our lives and incorporate healthy decisions in our life to stray away from such events. For those that do have it, all we can do is try and support them because they need it the most and being patient or just taking a breath and counting to 10 can go a long way.
