When the word bipolar is mentioned, people automatically think, "What's wrong? Is that person crazy?" Bipolar is a mental illness. It weights heavy on your moods. It causes depression and mania. It effects how a person feels and acts. Depression is considered the low mood and mania is considered the high mood.
Can you function with bipolar disorder? Of course you can; simply get yourself evaluated and if need be, start taking medication. Medication is strongly recommended for this illness. If a person is too depressed, without medication, they may end up hurting someone or maybe even themselves. If they are expressing mania, it could lead to them becoming out of touch with reality.
The proper medication can take care of those symptoms. In order to be helped, you have to want to get help. It is not a game to suffer and be in denial about this problem. It can be dangerous. Changes in life can cause these symptoms to accrue. Just because you have had some depression in life doesn’t mean that you have this mental illness.
If you are already suffering with depression and something major in your life occurs that makes your mental state worse, it is time to call someone. If you put it off something bad may happen. The proper thing to do is get help. When you admit your problem and seek the proper help, you will be on your way to functioning normally once again.
