Chemical Imbalance Creates Bipolar Disease

Without proper medication a person with Bipolar Disorder will go on rampages, feel like they are invincible, and within  minutes, crash and burn.  When depression comes, they  become extremely suicidal instantly.  If this sounds like you or someone you know - please understand that here is help, and though there are medications, bipolar disease isn’t something that will go away.   The brain’s chemicals for moods do not function properly.  Thoughts are incorrect much of the time unless on medication and under a doctor’s care. Wild  roller-coaster emotions are sporadic and unpredictable, but obvious.  Drugs  help stabilize the moods for this disorder.  Lithium is one of the most common.

Bipolar II Disorder is not as drastic, but still just as important to treat.  Without treatment and therapy, the person with this illness takes the chance of losing their family, social, and every other aspect of life just as much as the Bipolar Disorder person.  The bottom line is - no medication and no therapy then lives are going down the tube.  Therapy for both disorders gives the person tools to cope with the disease and take responsibility for their disease.  It gives  the family understanding of what their loved one and they have been going through.   Psychiatrists are the ones who prescribe the medications and discern which drug is working best for the client.

A milder form of the two previous disorders is cyclothymia disorder.  This affects moods as well, but differently.  The diagnosis becomes harder to discover.  Moods don’t change as drastically, but are relentless.  Help is still necessary.  A person may not discover this illness for years.  These three disorders are the same in one sense - they are chronic,  need therapy, and medication.  Wellbutrin can help with the latter for depression, but stronger drugs are needed for the first two mentioned.
